Did you know that 61% of internships are unpaid? And did you know that fewer than 20% of young people from the lowest socioeconomic backgrounds in London go on to work in “professional” occupations?

GoodWork is a non-profit, working with employers to create fairer opportunities for young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds in London and deliver social value.

Our flagship programme combines training, support and access to opportunity for young people aged 18-25. We source, assess and train candidates in key transferable skills to ensure they’re ready to take on entry-level opportunities across a range of sectors.

We partner with organisations who interview and hire directly from our programme, into internships, apprenticeships or permanent posts. We provide wraparound support, including inclusive manager training for your team, ongoing training and mentoring for young people and volunteering opportunities for your team to get involved and help us deliver social impact together.

What’s different about GoodWork?

We work with young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds who have left education and need support to navigate the jobs market. None of our candidates are students, most aren’t graduates but all are talented.

We run assessment centres designed to identify potential and motivation. We then train our candidates to be ready for interview and support them (and you) as they settle into their new role.

All our candidates come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and many face additional barriers to work, such as institutional bias and a lack of inclusive opportunities for those with disabilities or from minority ethnic communities.

Does it work?

Yes! Over 80% of the candidates we’ve placed have gone on to permanent roles with our partner organisations. **Here’s a case study** with Razz, who landed a role with Newsflare through our programme and another with Angelle, who landed a role with Wild.

If you’d like to hear more from the employers we’ve worked with, why not take a look at these testimonials from Gett, akt and Cowen + Partners. You can also hear more about who we’ve partnered with and their experiences in our Impact Report.

How does it work?

How much does it cost?

You’ll pay a flat fee of £4,000 + VAT per placement to GoodWork, and you’ll need to pay your candidates at least the London Living Wage for the duration of their time with you.
